We left pretty early this morning and as we drove out of Jersey City, through New York and over the George Washington bridge ($26 toll), the RV got its "tin can of death" nickname back. The roads were so rough and full of potholes I thought we wouldn't make it. One surprise, as we were driving down the road and almost to the New Jersey Turnpike, daddy realized he left the trash bag hanging on the passenger side rear view mirror. Yes, we drove out of the RV park and down the streets of Jersey City and Hoboken with a giant black trashbag (dripping tea) hanging on our mirror. Mommy managed to pull it in while we were driving. Once we made it into Connecticut and Rhode Island, the roads were better. We stopped at our 2nd Diner, Drive In and Dive, The Super Dooper Weenie. It was a hot dog joint in Fairfield, CT. Pretty good dog. The rest of the drive was uneventful until we made it into Woods Hole Massachusetts.
We were here early so we didn't want to go to the campground yet. We drove in to Woods Hole and realized very quickly but too late we could not fit down the streets. We could barely drive taking up both lanes down the center of the street. It is hard to believe we did not hit the cars parked on the side. Kevin could barely turn around but managed to and we were trying to get out of town. We still wanted to walk around so he stopped on the road and we all jumped out. Well, it didn't happen that fast. He stopped in the middle of the road and everyone had to go to the bathroom and find their shoes and soon he was screaming and yelling for everyone to get out of the RV. We jumped out and were laughing so hard walking down the street. By then, we were about a half of mile outside of town. The girls and I walked into Woods Hole and it was very small and quite lovely. We were done shopping by the time Kevin got the RV back to the campground and all hooked up. We met him back at the Steamship Authority in Woods Hole, he took a car in from the campground. We took a trolley into Falmouth where we walked the quaint streets and shopped and then ate dinner at an Irish tavern. We get on the huge steamship early in the morning for Martha's Vineyard.
