So long Savannah

Well it has been quite a day. We did sleep in a little, I made pancakes for breakfast. We soon realized we still had the tail light problem so we headed for Camping World where we hoped they could fix it quickly. After an hour or so we realized it wouldn't be quick and we were missing Savannah (now 1:00). We called a cab and told them to let us know later. About 20 min later a little angel named Tarrence came in and said it was fixed. Yahooo. Loose bulb short circuiting. We were off to salvage our day. Kevin is driving like a pro now and maneuvered our home beautifully through the tight streets getting us to the tour company. We took an Oglethorpe Trolly tour and it was awesome and informative. We were able to stop and go in to St John the Baptist Cathedral. Breathtaking.

(see photo) We saw all the hot spots and got dropped off at City Market. We ate and went to the candy kitchen. Yummmy. The girls loved watching the taffy being made, tossed about, put on a conveyor belt, moved through the whole shop and dumped into the taffy bin. Colbie got to fill a whole Strawberry Shortcake lunch box with candy. Daddy got a fabulous candy mustache

(see photo). Then we went down to the Riverftont and browsed around and went to see the Waving Girl. Fascinating story we learned about on our tour. We saw ginormous barges going by with containers on them. They were going to Singapore and Sweden. The boys on the barges were waving like princesses so we stood there and waved back for awhile. They were very excited. We were hot and poor Colbie was worn out so we got public transport back to the rv.

We decided all day in Savannah would probably have been tough so it worked out fine:). When we got cooled off Kevin said he could drive me to Columbia Square to see the Davenport House.

It was late so the streets were almost empty and we could park right on the square. It was so nice we went to a few other squares we had on our list. Monterey where the Midnight in the Garden took place and Madison where they filmed Forrest Gump

(photo). On the way back to the RV park Kevin even let me drive from the Burger King to the Walmart. I think I did good, maybe I'll get to drive more tomorrow:)

Anyway we are settled in and have only refilled the water tank 3 times-the guys said it would last all week HA! Savannah was very cool. Tomorrow we head for Beaufort. NC making a stop in Georgetown SC for a 3 hour tour to a private island. (it's all about shelling...)
