Monday

Today has been a day of driving. We left Camp Hatteras this morning to see the northern outer banks. The Bodie Lighthouse was on the top of our list....

Our releif dollars at work. UNDER RENOVATION Anyway, things looked up when we drove through Pea Island Refuge, a bird sanctuary. This means beaches that aren't packed with people... who collect shells. So, on the shortest walk to the beach(thru the refuge) Kevin pulled over to let me check it out. He made me take a machete (???) and I wasnt arguing. I might have been swinging it around as I was walking, Kevin says Conan the Barbarian, I was going for Capt. Jack Sparrow in the spirit of Blackbeards stomping grounds. I was back in 10 minutes for buckets, it was COVERED in Skate cases (mermaids purse, sting Ray pods). Yah for me!! Kayla went back to help me on my second trip, sans machete. From there we ate at stack em high (yummy) and headed up to the Wright Brothers Memorial and Monument We thought of Camp and Papa

It was a LONG walk, and guess who couldn't make it without being carried?

We left the Outer Banks and headed west 500 miles. The girls have been pretty good on the long drive. We are headed to Moonshine Creek Campground in NC. The next two days will be hiking and waterfalls, we are excited for the cooler temperatures. Kevin is currently driving white knuckled up and down the Smokey Mountain Expressway announcing everytime his ears pop!
